Why Scotch Thistle?

Our team's name is inspired by a beautiful watercolor painting created by our late mother and grandmother, Ailsa McKenzie.

Ailsa was a talented artist who had a passion for art, painting and most of all, her family. One of her most cherished works is a painting of a Scotch thistle, which she captured in delicate brushstrokes and vibrant colors. We have chosen to honour Ailsa's memory by naming our team after this beautiful flower, and we carry her spirit with us as we compete in grass kart races around the country.

She may no longer be with us in person, but she is always with us in spirit as we pursue our passion for racing. We invite you to learn more about our team and our inspiration as you explore our website.

Our Drivers

Here, you will find information about the drivers who make up our team. Although we may be new to the world of grass kart racing we are dedicated to honing our skills and pushing the karts to their limits.

Get to know our team members and learn more about our excitement for this thrilling sport.

  • Mark - "The Dad"

    Standard Lifan Class

Mark is the one who maintains and fixes the Kart. Occasionally Caoimhe helps out with a bit of cleaning.

  • Caoimhe - "The Daughter"

    Junior Class

When Caoimhe is not at school, she is a training as a competitive gymnast, but she has just started grass kart racing and is loving it. Sometimes Mark has trouble keeping up with her too!

Our Support Team

Some of us don't race, but they are our biggest supporters and they keep us all organised and cheered on each race day.

  • Ewan - "The Grandad"

    Chief Pie Warmer

Ewan provides the on-site accomodation for the Team on race day in his Fifth-Wheel caravan. He keeps the pies warm and all the team fed and watered. Occasionally, when no-one is looking he hops in a kart for a quick ride.
